| At Gordon, on Sydney’s north shore, the skyline is rapidly changing shape as the area’s newest residential development moves ever closer to completion.La Maison, the $24m multi-unit residential development in McIntyre Street Gordon, is set for completion in late June this year. Set high above the existing trees, La Maison will feature 66 apartments over two buildings – Block A, which has six levels, and Block B with eight levels. Additionally, there will be a three-level shared car park and landscaped gardens.
There will be a range of apartment configurations, from oversized one bedroom, two bedroom, three bedroom and penthouse apartments, with open plan living spaces and large balconies where residents can enjoy the panoramic views.
Southern Cross Constructions began the project in February 2007 and worked with in various site constraints. The development, just minutes from Gordon Shopping Village, is set into a steep hill, with a sloping driveway off a divided roadway and street access at level three. Limited storage also impacted materials handling and deliveries.La Maison incorporates a range of design elements including:
- Rendered facade.
- Architectural corbel highlights around much of the building.
- Glazed balustrades.
- Landscaped courtyards.
- Sunshade louvres.
- Low-E glass: which reduces UV energy entering the apartment and allows a large amount of visible light, ensuring a residence is brighter and more comfortable.
